The full conference provides up to 12 points in Category I education towards your PT continuing competency requirement. Saturday only provides 6 points in Category I education.

Session in the Spotlight: From the Computer Screen to the Clinic on Monday

Telehealth Speakers: Alan Chong Lee, PT, DPT, PhD, CWS, GCS, Professor, Physical Therapy, Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles, California, and Sarah Gallagher PT, DPT, NCS, and founder of The Dizzy Clinic.

This two-part course will focus on telehealth physical therapy and implementation of telehealth into your clinical practice. We will discuss current evidence, history, and resources for physical therapists to utilize telehealth in practice followed by specific telehealth physical therapy implementation example in Colorado. The audience will participate with investigating secured telehealth portal as well as non-secure real time audio and video conferencing. Overall, telehealth is a tool to advance physical therapy practice by addressing convenience of travel, cost, and quality of life impacts overall care in the digital age.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define telehealth, telemedicine, and telerehabilitation.
  2. Identify telehealth resources in physical therapy.
  3. Develop telehealth implementation strategy for addressing clinical practice in your clinic.

Call for Abstracts and Platforms for APTA Colorado Chapter’s Rocky Mountain Annual Conference

We encourage all PTs, PTAs, and students to submit abstracts and platforms on case reports, special interest reports, or research projects.
Abstracts and platforms submitted will be selected for presentation that demonstrates quality research and clinical relevance.

Please submit the abstract no later thanAugust 11, 2018 by e-mail to Allison Gustavson, PT, DPT, Co-Chair of the Research Committee: [email protected]

You will be notified by August 18, 2018 if your abstract or platform is selected.

  • If your abstract is selected for a poster presentation, you may be asked to be available at your poster at a designated time during the conference.
  • If your platform is selected, you will be asked to present for 5 minutes using a slide presentation and then have 5 minutes for questions.

Instructions for Abstracts and Platforms

  • 250 words or less (not including title and authors)
  • Contain the following sections:
    • TITLE
    • AUTHORS
    • INTRODUCTION
    • SUBJECTS
    • METHODS
    • RESULTS
    • DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION
    • CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Sessions In The Spotlight: Neuro Track

Implementing Dual Task Training to Improve Balance and Functional Mobility in Individuals with Neurologic Insult

This course will provide a framework on implementing dual task training for individuals with neurologic insult. Discussion will include the current evidence for dual task training to improve balance and gait as well as the choosing appropriate outcome measures to determine the effectiveness of dual task interventions. Case studies and patient examples will focus on the implementation of dual task training in the clinical setting for mobility-impaired populations.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the evidence in support of dual task training for individuals with neurologic insult

2. Identify outcome measures to evaluate the effectiveness of dual task training

3. Understand the importance of a patient centered framework of task selection for dual task activities

4. Explain the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to dual task training.

Governor Hickenlooper signed HB 18-155 into law on May 29th. This was a culmination of a lot of very hard work by APTA Colorado, with many members providing the heavy lift in supporting our dynamic lobbying team and APTA Colorado staff.
