A Message From The State Advocate For The Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy (AGPT) of the APTA

Posted: June 6, 2018

Hello Colorado Members of the APTA!
I am writing to introduce myself and let you know that I am the newly appointed State Advocate for the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy (AGPT) of the APTA for Colorado.
I'm very excited to share my professional and personal passion for our part in the health and wellness for older adults. This role is to help you get connected and stay connected to the Academy and assist to facilitate ideas, provide updates on local and national events and support our growth in the service to the geriatrics population.
What does this mean for you?
  • If you have questions or are looking for more information about AGPT - you can contact me and I will help.
  • If you are interested in taking the GCS - I can help set up a study group
  • If you have questions about resources available to your clients in the community after therapy - I can help facilitate a relationship with a state agency that handles elder issues
I would love to hear about screenings or older adult based programming that you are involved in or plan to have this year.   It's never too early to plan activities for National Fall Prevention Awareness Day for Saturday, September 22, 2018 or National Physical Therapy Month in October.  If you know of areas/communities that could benefit from a fall risk screening event - let me know and I'll do what I can to help connect people.
I have established a Facebook page which can be accessed through the following link:
If you haven't had the opportunity to look through the AGPT site, here is a direct link:
Please let me know what other areas of interest can promote optimal aging.  I look forward to working with all of you -
