Physical Therapy in the NICU? This subspecialty of pediatric physical therapy is often little known or understood, even by those in our profession. From neuroprotection and sensory modulation, to orthopedic anomalies and motor skill acquisition; this session will delve into the primary roles and scope of practice of the NICU therapist, and describe the physical and non-physical implications of preterm delivery on both the parents and infants throughout the lifespan. Discussion following will aim to unearth what areas of strength, improvement, and growth there are for management of these implications in our southeastern district of Colorado. This event offers 1.5 hours of CEU credit! Speaker: Dr. Landon Pillsbury is a physical therapist at Children’s Hospital Colorado - Colorado Springs where he practices in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. He is a board certified clinical specialist in pediatric physical therapy. He received his doctor of physical therapy degree from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his residency training at Creighton University Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency program in Omaha, NE.
