Meet Your Leadership: Audrey Waldron

Posted: May 9, 2019

Over the next few months, the nominating committee is sharing stories by your current APTA Colorado leadership as we approach the fall elections.  Today’s spotlight is on Practice Director Audrey Waldron.

Audrey Waldron - Current Practice Director of the Colorado Chapter

What are some of your obligations and tasks in your current leadership position?

My present role as Practice Director at large on the Board of Directors requires participation in board functions such as attending 4 meetings/year and participating in online discussions.

Why were you interested in your current position?

To be able to provide experience to the Board on issues based on many years serving in a variety of roles within the Chapter.

Why did you become involved in the Colorado chapter?

I first became involved in the Colorado Chapter of the APTA in 1994 when a mentor asked me to run for a position in the Mile high district. Unbeknownst to me, this position afforded me seat on the board of directors.  I was young and inexperienced with Chapter activities, but the additional mentorship and the relationships I developed with colleagues in this role broadened my views and continued to open up many doors of opportunities that I would never have known to be possible.  I have volunteered my time to serve the Colorado chapter for 25 years and I can truly say the return on investment has been exponential! I have grown personally and professionally and am very thankful for the relationships developed over these years.

What is one (or more) of your favorite parts about holding this position?

Continued involvement in Chapter activities to assist in moving the profession of Physical Therapy forward in Colorado.  It is inspirational to be able to collaborate with knowledgeable and talented colleagues that practice in a wide array of practice and academic environments that continues to broaden my scope of thinking outside of my practice area.
