A discussion on the role of rehab after various breast cancer/reconstruction surgeries happening in Northern Colorado led by local Cancer Center physical therapist, Michelle Faris. We will discuss the latest clinical guidelines for breast cancer related lymphedema management, the benefits of a perspective surveillance model for early detection of lymphedema and the role of pelvic floor therapy for the cancer patient. Physical Therapy Now Included in WHO Pediatric Chronic Pain Guidelines

The revised resource stresses the need for a multidisciplinary biopsychosocial approach — and more research.

The World Health Organization has revised its 2012 guidelines for chronic or long-term pain management in children. The new version was expanded to include physical therapy and psychological interventions in acknowledgement of the “complex, multidimensional” nature of chronic pain.

Payment Win: Aetna Becomes Second Major Insurer to Lift Edits on Code Pairs

The major commercial insurer follows Cigna in a decision to lift misguided coding edits, a target of APTA advocacy efforts.

In a major payment shift, mega-insurer Aetna has decided to follow suit with a recent U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid decision and permit certain common current procedural terminology code pairings that were severely restricted by National Correct Coding Initiative Procedure to Procedure edits. APTA is pressing for other commercial insurers to make similar changes.
