Trauma and Pediatric Clients: How Physical Therapy Can Support

Join the APTA Colorado Pediatric SIG for this virtual course! This course will review the definition of trauma and the potential influence of trauma on brain development in young children. Participants in this course will explore connections between a child’s history of trauma and their work with pediatric clients and their families. Finally, participants will understand how participation, movement, and relationships support children who have experienced trauma.

CEU: 1.5 Credit Hours

Speaker: Tricia Williams, OTD, OTR/L is the team lead for the occupational therapists, physical therapists, and adapted physical education teachers in Aurora Public Schools. Dr. Williams has worked as an occupational therapist for 27 years. Most of her experience has been with pediatrics in school and home health settings. She is certified as a Neurosequental Model of Education trainer.
