Speakers: Beth Anne Fisher PT, DPT, CSCS, WHC and Renee Ostertag, PT

Class Description:

A constantly changing set of institutional policies, productivity requirements, and a sicker patient population wear on the body, mind, and soul of the rehab therapist in the acute care setting.  Sensible coping strategies such as exercise, meditation, and ‘vegging out’ are satisfactory as short-term measures, but if a therapist is truly aiming for long-term career sustainability and professional satisfaction, physiological self-regulation in the moments of the work day, even while working with patients, is a ‘must.’

Beth Anne Fisher PT, DPT, CSCS, WHC and Renee Ostertag, PT, DPT, M.Physio, Cert. MDT will deliver key learnings that support the rehab therapist in the acute care setting to develop resiliency skills required to thrive.  They will share from their own professional narratives around compassion fatigue, burnout, and secondary trauma.  Participants will receive an interactive learning experience that addresses concepts of truth-telling, self-regulation, and boundaries.  Together, we will promote the conversation that stretches and supports us all to be more resilient in today’s acute care environment.
