Tami Struessel, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC

Tami is running for Delegate at Large in the 2020 Board Elections.

Tami Struessel has been a faculty member in the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program since 2005, practicing clinically during that time in a variety of outpatient private practices. She has been a proud Colorado Chapter member for the past 26 years and has served on a variety of Chapter and Section Committees, including serving in leadership positions. Most recently, she served as a member and President of the Colorado State Physical Therapy Board for 8 years, and advisory committee for 4 years before that. She teaches DPT students in the areas of health care systems/delivery, clinical reasoning, medical screening and musculoskeletal physical therapy care. She has degrees in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh, Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and The University of Colorado. She has been an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist since 2003, and certified manual therapist since 1999.

Why do you feel qualified to serve in the above position?

I have been an APTA member since beginning my PT Program in 1989, and a Colorado Chapter member since moving to Colorado in 1993. I have seen the profession and the Chapter grow and mature over the years in many positive ways. My experience as a PT, my position in the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program, my experience as a Colorado State Physical Therapy Board member and President, and my involvement on Committees and in Chapter leadership give me a unique perspective. I feel that the Colorado Chapter would benefit from having a PT with such a breadth of experience representing them as a delegate.

Why do you want to serve in the above position?

I have always been interested in serving as a Chapter delegate and representing the Chapter at the National House of Delegates. In 2012 I was actually elected to serve as a delegate, but had to relinquish that position when I was appointed to the Colorado State Physical Therapy Board. After completing 8 years on the Board and taking 6 months to recharge, I am again enthusiastically interested in serving in this position.
