Get Involved in the APTA/Colorado Chapter!

The pressures on the physical therapy profession are increasing. The Chapter has been successful in accomplishing much for our membership, primarily through the efforts of our dedicated volunteers. We always need new faces, new ideas, and new energy. Please take a minute to sign up below to help out in an area that interests you. You must be a member of the APTA/Colorado Chapter to serve. The Colorado Chapter primarily uses email and the web site to communicate with its members. Please be sure to include your email address above and notify the Chapter if your address changes.

  • BOB DOCTOR GOLF TOURNAMENT – Assists in planning and hosting the Bob Doctor Golf Tournament,held annually to raise support for the Colorado Chapter’s legislative advocacy activities.
  • COLORADO PHYSICAL THERAPY POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE – Serves as a fundraising group committed to supporting state and local candidates whose views are supportive of the profession and practice of physical therapy.
  • FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE – Assists in planning and implementing fundraising activities designed to promote the Chapter’s goals.
  • GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS – Monitors and reports on local and national legislative activities; lobbies and advocates before regulatory bodies.
  • MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE – Recruit PTs, PTA, and students to the APTA.
  • MENTORING COMMITTEE – Develops and expands opportunities for mentoring PT students and recent graduates.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE – Develops and expands opportunities for ongoing education for Colorado PTs, PT Assistants and students and plans programs for Spring Convention, Fall Symposium and other continuing education offerings.
  • REIMBURSEMENT & PAYER RELATIONS COMMITTEE – Advocates for prompt and reasonable payment for Physical Therapy services and serves as liaison between Chapter members and third party payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Comp, commercial insurers).
  • RESEARCH COMMITTEE – Serves as a resource support group to assist in research conducted by Chapter members. Provides communication and education opportunities in four regional areas of the state.

Elected/Appointed Committees

  • ETHICS COMMITTEE – Encourages and promotes ethical practice among Chapter members; investigates complaints of violations of ethical standards by members according to APTA Judicial Committee guidelines.
  • FINANCE COMMITTEE – Assists in planning and reviewing the Chapter finances including: fiscal management, strategic planning, cost-benefit assessment, budget preparation, and financial record-keeping.
  • NOMINATING COMMITTEE – Prepares slate of nominees to be presented for election in the spring, including PTs and PTAs from each district, male and female, hospitals and clinics.

  • AFFILIATE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (SIG) for Physical Therapist Assistant members of the Colorado Chapter.
  • PEDIATRIC SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (PSIG) for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants in pediatrics.
  • PRIVATE PRACTICE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (SIG) for Physical Therapists in private practice.
  • SPORTS SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (SIG) for Physical Therapist and PT Assistants.
  • STUDENT SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (SIG) for Physical Therapist and PT Assistant Students.
  • ACUTE CARE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (CAReSIG) for Physical Therapist and PT Assistants.
