In collaboration with the Clinical Educator SIG of Colorado, we proudly present a panel discussion with a focus on the acute care rotation. Clinical rotations offer the opportunity for deeper learning, connection with real patients and developing skills that can only be learned with consistent practice with patients.

In the acute care setting, students may have apprehension related to their rotation due to fear of the unknown (equipment, diagnoses, pathophysiology, interacting and communicating with an interdisciplinary team). In this panel discussion, students and clinicians will be able to have an open conversation about the acute and long term acute care (LTACH) settings. Speaking with experienced clinical instructors will help you prepare for your rotation in acute care/LTACH and help you maximize every minute of your rotation. You will come away with ideas for maximizing each rotation type, however, the focus will be on acute care/LTACH.

Clinicians may also have apprehension about how to best connect and teach their student when they recognize that acute care may not be the ultimate setting of choice for the student. Panel discussion with students with help identify areas to highlight for the student in all acute care rotations and how to best connect their current acute care/long term care experience  as the entry point for many patients into the longer journey of recovery.
