PT Board Announces National Conferences Are Level II CPD

Posted: October 30, 2017

It was recently determined by the Colorado PT Board that the continuing education hours for CSM and NEXT are Level II, not Level I hours under continuing competency. This is due to the sessions at CSM and NEXT not having a formalized assessment of learning. This was announced to attendees at the 2017 Rocky Mountain Fall Conference & PT Expo. The Fall Conference continues to be Level I, as do the majority of APTA Colorado sponsored educational events.

APTA Colorado leadership has discussed plans going forward with the APTA National educational/conference committee to identify a mechanism to ensure that in the future that national conferences will meet the Level I continuing competency requirements for Colorado licensed PTs. This has also been informally reviewed with the Colorado PT Board, with no determination made in advance as to meeting a future Level I standard. This though is the goal for APTA CO in working with the national association.

For Colorado licensed PTs, due to this determination made recently by the Colorado PT Board in accordance with the current continuing competency
rules and guidelines in Colorado, the CEU hours that you obtained in 2017 at CSM or NEXT, that you will report for CPD requirements by October 31
st2018, are Level II hours.
