Speaker: Sarah Nazzaro PT, DPT, CCS, WCS is an acute care physical therapist at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, CO. Although she enjoys the variety of patient populations that come with working in a rural hospital, she is primarily interested in wound care, critical care and cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy.

Description: Wound care is a skill within the scope of practice of all physical therapists, but often the opportunity to integrate into practice is difficult due to due to lacking foundational knowledge and confidence in assessment and interventions. Acute care therapists can typically recognize a concerning wound, but many find it challenging to objectively communicate their assessment and concerns. With this review, you will leave with a better understanding of wound healing, basic wound assessment and interventions and what the acute care physical therapist role is with chronic wounds (arterial, venous, neuropathic and pressure injury)
